Auburn Players Announces the Cast of AVENUE Q

The Auburn Players Community Theatre and the Avenue Q production team are proud to announce the cast for the upcoming musical Avenue Q.

This production features many longtime Auburn Players and also those appearing for the first time with our organization. Directors Stephanie and Douglas McCall said the cast is “high energy, vibrant, and ready to put on a great show!”

Joe Wood will be playing Princeton, a recent college grad looking to find his way and figure out his purpose, but who is without an apartment, a job, and has no practical work experience. When he finally finds an apartment on dumpy Avenue Q, one of his new neighbors include Kate Monster, a kindergarten teacher’s assistant played by newcomer Michele Lindor.

Princeton’s new home, Avenue Q is filled with characters that feel familiar. Best friends Rod and Nicky will remind audience members of another lovable muppet duo from their childhood, bickering like an old married couple. Rod is an anal retentive Republican banker who irons his own underwear, who is continually frustrated with his slacker roommate Nicky. Rod and Nicky will be played by Alexander Spear and Jake Smith, with Alicia Caron lending a hand to make the Nicky puppet come to life. Trekkie Monster is a recluse with an internet addiction. Seth Kennedy will voice Trekkie and Trekkie will be puppeteered by both Seth and Kimberly Leubner.

Brian, an aspiring comedian who was recently laid off from his day job, will be played by Ed Beck and his fiance Christmas Eve, a therapist with no clients will be portrayed by Alyssa Courter. The superintendent of Avenue Q is Gary Coleman, played by Alana Graber.

Avenue Q debuted in 2004 on Broadway, where it won the Tony Awards for Best Musical, Best Score, and Best Book, and remains as hilarious and pertinent as the day it was written, dealing with real life young adult issues of relationships, sex, drinking, and finding your calling in life. This production is hysterical, with a lot of heart, but not meant for children.

Avenue Q will be presented at the Bisgrove Theater at CCC July 28-31.
