The Auburn Players are proud to announce the cast of our upcoming production of Ken Ludwig’s madcap comedy, Moon Over Buffalo, which will take the stage on April 28th at the Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College in Auburn.
Sure to be a crowd-pleaser, Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s. They are currently performing in Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in a repertoire theater in Buffalo, NY with only five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s involvement with a young actress, they receive word that they might have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee! Unfortunately, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing.
Premiering on Broadway in 1995, Moon Over Buffalo was nominated for two Tony Awards and marked Carol Burnett’s triumphant return to the stage after 30 years, where she starred opposite Philip Bosco. Subsequent Broadway casts included Lynn Redgrave and Robert Goulet, and in London it has played at the legendary Old Vic and starred Joan Collins.
The Auburn Players’ production is directed by Robert Frame and the zany cast of characters include:
- Bill Daugherty as George Hay, a traveling actor
- Anne Fitzgerald as Charlotte Hay, George’s wife and actress in his company
- Alicia Frame as Rosalind, George & Charlotte’s daughter, who left the stage to lead a “normal” life.
- Scott Duell as Howard, a TV weatherman and Rosalind’s fiancé.
- Michael Antico as Paul, stage manager for George’s company, and Rosalind’s ex-fiancé.
- Stephanie Figer as Ethel, Charlotte’s nearly-deaf mother.
- Dale Fennessy as Richard, a love sick lawyer who is courting Charlotte.
- Christine Zavakos as Eileen, an actress in George’s company who was George’s “one-night stand.”
The show will run April 28 to May 1 at Cayuga Community College.
