The Auburn Players Community Theatre will present The Giver on February 11th, 12th, 13th, and 14th.

The Giver 1.16For this production, a few new people have joined The Auburn Players to help present The Giver. The Auburn Players are an all volunteer organization. Our members come from all ]walks of life. Many of our members have been involved with the arts even if professionally they work different sorts of jobs.

Joshua Williams is a middle school English teacher is also making his debut with the Auburn  Players as director of The Giver. Joshua has been involved in theatre for over 20 years, since he was in high school. He got his start by designing posters , programs, and set art. The idea of directiong this show with the players came directly from his professional life. Williams was teaching The Giver at Skaneateles Middle School with longtime Auburn Player Ann Frame. According to Williams, “As we were teaching the novel together last year she presented the possibility of directing the show this year.  I love the story, I have directing experience, and I jumped at this opportunity.”

Robert Dorschel has joined our production of the Giver as Sound Designer. Professionally, Robert is a graphic artist working in the print and online publication industry. Dorschel is a lifetime patron of the arts. In high school, he worked behind the scenes, and began acting a little bit in 11th and 12th grade. He worked on the stagecrew again in college, but hasn’t done much theatre since. Robert was inspired to come into our organization through director Joshua Williams. According to Robert, “I’ve always wanted to do sound design for stage, it’s not far off from soundtrack work for film in which I have some experience.”

Lauren Pohl is also an English teacher working in the Skaneateles School District. She is putting her writing talents to work writing articles, press releases, and getting the word out about our remarkable cast and crew. Lauren works with both Joshua Williams and Ann Frame.

Many of the people who work on the shows of the Auburn Players have supported this great organization for years, but we are so lucky that our community is so supportive and includes such talented newcomers. Come be part of an Auburn Players show!
