When The Auburn Players Community Theatre needed a promotional poster for their upcoming production of “Moon Over Buffalo,” they found not one, but four local students to take on the project.
Students of the Graphic Design and New Media program at Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES spend two years training, building a portfolio, and preparing for NOCTI (National Occupational Competency Testing Institute) Certification Exam. They work with the industry standard tools of Adobe Creative Suite, Dreamweaver, and Flash animation.

This semester they received a project from their teacher, Terry Cuddy, “you have a client, make a poster.” The students where given the information that was required for the poster and a brief description of the play.

Kayleigh Dillabough, Nick Horner, Shane Rao, and Brenden Slater all came up with their own designs and submitted them to the theater in hoping theirs would be chosen. However, the Auburn Players team was so impressed with the students’ work, they decided to print and distribute all four designs to help promote their upcoming production.

The posters will be displayed in windows throughout central New York, and in the lobby of the production. In addition, all four posters will be posted on the Auburn Regional Media Access (ARMA) community calendar on Time Warner Cable Channels 12 & 98 or Verizon FiOS Channel 31.

Moon Over Buffalo is a raucous farce about a dysfunctional theater troupe performing in Buffalo. This backstage play by Ken Ludwig brought Carol Burnett back to Broadway for a Tony Award nomination.

Fate has given stage actors’ George and Charlotte Hay one more shot at starring roles in a movie with director Frank Capra. Come to the show and see if the troupe can audition for Capra and give the performance of a lifetime.

Moon Over Buffalo will be April 29th – May 1st at the Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College. Performances on the 28th, 29th and 30th are at 8PM with the performance on May 1st starting at 2 PM. Tickets are $14 General Admission and $12 for Students and Seniors. Tickets may be purchased at the door or online by clicking here.
