The family that plays together…
Meet Bob Frame, director of APCT’s next production of MOON OVER BUFFALO, his wife Ann, the Stage Manager, and daughter Alicia, who is playing the role of Rosalind in the production.
Bob has been involved with the Auburn Players since he moved into town in 1979 and has worked on almost every production since. He has directed our productions of Deathtrap, Prelude to a Kiss, Brighton Beach Memoirs, ‘night, Mother and the Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, to name a few. During his time with the Players, he built the sets, designed lights, acted, and served on our Board of Directors. Some of his other local directing credits include Anything Goes, and Music Man for Skaneateles Summer Theater, Pirates of Penzance for the Seneca Players. He is Past-President of the Theatre Association of NY State, where he also serves as a Roving Adjudicator. In addition, he was recently elected to a Board of the American Association of Community Theatre, the national advocating body for non-professional theater. Bob is the Director of Theatre Operations at Cayuga Community College where he teaches theater courses, directs the plays and works with all of the companies who grace the stage to provide the best experience possible. During his career as Director, Actor, and Designer, Bob’s work has received numerous awards, notably the J. Richard Mahlstedt Directing Award from TANYS.
Ann has worked numerous productions in Central New York. She often serves as Stage Manager for her husband, but has worked for many directors and served in various technical staff positions. Past shows include Musical Comedy Murders, To Kill a Mocking Bird, ‘night Mother, Annie, Steel Magnolias and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest for the Auburn Players, as well as The Wizard of Oz, Beauty and the Beast, Anything Goes, and Music Man for Skaneateles Summer Theater. Ann currently serves as Production Treasurer for our Board of Directors and works as a teacher’s aide in the Skaneateles School District.
Bob and Ann have four children, Michael, Caryl, Alicia, and Gillian. Their children have grown up around theater; it is no wonder that they would often follow in “family business.” In this production, their daughter Alicia is playing the role of Rosalind.
Alicia made her first stage debut at the age of six in The Auburn Players’ production of The Miracle Worker. She has gone on to perform in more than 30 plays and musicals. Some of her favorites have included Wit, Romeo and Juliet, The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Alicia is currently pursuing acting and is working in Syracuse teaching theater and the arts to inner city school students.
