The Laramie Project opens this week at The Auburn Public Theater in Downtown, Auburn.

Nine actors play over 60 roles in this unique play about the reaction to the 1998 murder of gay University of Wyoming student Matthew Shepard in Laramie, Wyoming.   The murder was denounced as a hate crime and brought attention to the lack of hate crime laws in various states, including Wyoming

This week, we will introduce to the actors of this production and get some insight into The Laramie Project.  And now, meet Lillian Boberg

Tell us a little about your background:

I am 21 years old and from Auburn. I have been involved in theatre for over 12 years and performed in various productions with the Auburn Players, Auburn Public Theater, Auburn High school, as well as various community theaters in the surrounding area. Some of my most memorable roles include The Bakers Wife in Into The Woods Jr., Mrs Potts in Beauty and the Beast and The Narrator in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

What characters do you play in the show?
I play Barbara Pitts, April Silva, Zubaida Ula, Sherry Johnson, Morman Homeschool Teacher, Trish Steger, Narrator, Ensemble, Anonymous Friend, Jen

What made you want to do this play?

I am very proud to be in this production. I feel that this story needs to continue to be told, especially in the current political and social climate that we are living in. In many ways we have been pushed backwards in terms of LGBTQ rights and human rights in general, and it is our duty to not allow that to happen and to keep fighting.

THE LARAMIE PROJECT plays Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (October 10, 11, & 12) at 7:30pm at The Auburn Public Theater.  Tickets are $10 (senior/student) & $15 (general admission), and may be purchased by visiting www.auburnpublictheater.org or by calling the box office at 315-253-6669.

Thanks, Lillian — we look forward to catching you and your fellow cast members this weekend!
