The Auburn Players are holding auditions for a unique piece of theater presented outside the normal stage.   Bob Frame will direct “Antigone and Letters to Soldiers Lost” adapted by California playwright Al Schnupp.

The show is an adaptation of the brilliant drama by Sophocles. The play about civil disobedience is interwoven with letters from the Vietnam Veterans Memorial; these letters are haunting, gripping mementos, prayers, and expressions of grief. A portrait of loss, honor, and reconciliation.

Cast Size of 12. Also, a male and female vocalists and A guitarist.

The play will be performed the weekend of Sept 18-20 in an outdoor park setting to allow for social distancing (Lawn Chair Theater) It will also be in conjunction with a dedication of a Vietnam Veterans Memorial.  The play may also be videotaped for digital access.

In person auditions will be held Sunday July 26 from 1 to 4 PM and Monday July 27 from 6 to 8 PM. at the PERC building at First Presbyterian Church (formerly the Case Mansion, South St.)

Auditions will be held on the patio but will move to a covered area of the building if weather is unpleasant.   Please bring masks with you. Park in the church parking lot, we ask that you stay in your car until you are checked in. Auditionees will be seen one at a time to maintain social distancing.

Virtual auditions will also be accepted.  You will need to record yourself reading one of the letters and email it the director at the email below.

Needed and appropriate care will be exercised throughout the rehearsal period. Zoom rehearsals are planned for the letters. Most scenes are 2-person scenes where we can exercise social distancing and we will mask for the opening full company choreographed movements. These scenes and in-person rehearsals will not start till mid-August, pending pandemic quarantine etc.….
